Young reindeer with a shining nose coloring page
A young reindeer stands with tall branching antlers, a collar round its neck and a round nose that is clearly meant to glow, with snowflakes drifting past. Brown body, cream muzzle, and one small red circle that the whole drawing depends on: color the nose last, and press a little harder there than anywhere else. The red-nosed reindeer was invented in 1939 by Robert L. May for a Chicago department store's giveaway booklet, and only became a song ten years later. The snowman in a long scarf has the same trick, one bright shape against the pale rest.
How to color Young reindeer with a shining nose
- Warm brown for the body and legs, with a cream muzzle, belly and tail.
- A lighter tan for the antlers, or leave them pale and outline them in brown.
- Bright red for the nose, pressing harder than anywhere else on the page.
